The family-friendly Class I, II & III rapids are enough action to engage novices without being intimidating. Kid-tested and mom-approved since 1981.

Please arrive for your 4-hour raft trip approximately 20-30 minutes prior to departure at our office in historic downtown Durango, CO. 
We have free parking, changing rooms and are located next to a restaurant and grocery store just 1 block from the Durango Train.
You will have the option to rent additional thermal gear at that time should weather conditions dictate. (Recommended May & June)
We will transport you to and from the river.
Mid way through the raft trip we will stop for a bathroom break and a snack of fresh fruit, chips and salsa.
Professional photographs will be available for purchase at the end of your trip.

We suggest that you bring sunscreen, bottled water, a hat, quick-drying clothing such as shorts, t-shirts and windbreakers. No flip flops. This trip is suitable for rafters of all ages and skill levels.

This open air 4×4 vehicle winds up and through La Plata Canyon for 14 rugged miles reaching the majestic views from Kennebec Pass at over 12,000 ft. Along the way your guide will explain the canyon’s mining history such as the vanished La Plata City town site from 1875 and hear about characters like Olga Little, one of the world’s only woman mule skinner’s. Also learn about the native Ute people, the areas geology as well as flora and fauna of the San Juan Mountains.

Mesa Verde, Spanish for green table, offers a spectacular look into the lives of the Ancestral Pueblo people who made it their home for over 700 years. Today the park protects nearly 5,000 known archaeological sites, including 600 cliff dwellings. These sites are some of the most notable and best preserved in the United States.

Our guide will customize the trip to your group offering choices from the park's guided tours as well as adding historical, cultural and archaeological insights on interpretive hikes and walking tours. Park entrance fees, ranger-guided tour tickets and a deli-style lunch are included.

  • Trips depart Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays with a 2-person minimum
  • Arrive 15 minutes prior to the 8:00am departure
  • Depart from our office at 303 W. College Dr.
  • Enjoy a deli lunch mid-day
  • Cliff Palace involves climbing five, 8-10 foot ladders, on a 100ft vertical climb. Total walking distance is about one quarter-mile, round-trip. Tour begins at Cliff Palace Overlook, a 23-mile, one-hour drive from the Visitor and Research Center.
  • Balcony House Adventurous Cliff Dwelling Tour involves climbing a 32-foot ladder, crawling through a 12 foot tunnel, and climbing up a 60-foot open rock face with two 10-foot ladders to exit the site. The tour begins at the Balcony House parking area, a 25-mile, 1.25-hour drive from the Visitor Center

You will be instructed and outfitted by our professional guides to pilot your Inflatable Kayak along with the raft trip. This excursion requires full participation and a strong sense of adventure!

Inflatable Kayak Trips follow along with our regularly scheduled raft trips. Professional river guides will be at close hand throughout the trip to ensure your safety. If you are uncomfortable at any time you can get in a raft and finish the trip.
